SPLURGEWORTHY: Fabric

Kelly Wearstler's second fabric collection for Groundworks just launched, and it is one of the best I have seen in awhile.  Typically, a new fabric collection will have a couple styles that steal the show, and the rest are sleepers.  However, this collection is versatile, rich and truly beautiful.  There is something natural and exotic about the line that draws me in, not to mention the color combinations are refreshingly new.  I guarantee you will see at least one fabric that makes you want to splurge a little and have something amazing made.

A Weekend of Good Design

This past weekend was one of those weekends that just flies by because you have so much going on, but you get so much done.  I covered a lot of ground this weekend, but more importantly I saw some beautifully designed spaces.  I always love to see another designer's work in person.  It's a good way to take a step outside of your own work and see what other's are doing.  A fresh perspective of sorts!

Starting off the weekend in Charleston, I stopped by Novel on King Street to check out the Living Vintage event going on through the weekend.  Inspired by the vintage photograph in the second image below, local interior designer Angie Hranowsky and Lauren Lail of Library: Archives of Fashion created vignettes of interiors and outfits.  It was a beautiful collection of vintage fashion and decor, and a fabulous idea to combine the two and showcase this way.

Amazing jewelry by the lovely Jane Pope Cooper of Balboa/Jane Pope Jewelry.

On Saturday, I headed to Charlotte to stay with family, and meet with a design firm about collaborating on some projects.  I also squeezed in a quick trip to Ikea.  I'm talking quick, like we got there around 8 pm and they close at 9 pm.  It was speed shopping at its finest!  Throwing stuff in the cart left and right.  Amazing how far 100 bucks goes there!  They have the best prices on fun storage boxes, by the way.  On Sunday, I met at the design firm's office, which is in a gorgeous older home in the Meyers Park area.  They have done an amazing job transforming this home into a stylish office space.  It was a busy meeting, so I didn't get as many photos as I would have liked, but they had chic lighting in every room as you will see in these pictures.  I just love a good light fixture!  Don't you?

All in all, a good weekend made better with good design!

Gold and Pink Wedding

It's picture time!  Just received some of the pictures from the wedding I planned and styled a few weekends ago.  I was so pleased with how these show the little details that went into this wedding to make it such a special evening for the bride and groom.  One special detail in particular that you will notice - dogs!  Both the bride and groom's dogs are important parts of their lives, and it wouldn't have been the same if their furry friends couldn't somehow be a part of the celebration.

The Bride's Mother made this gorgeous cake!  Truly an art!

It was a beautiful evening!  Cheers to this wonderful couple!

#100!!!

I launched this blog on July 4th, 2011, and here I sit, just shy of a year, writing my 100th post!  I sort of feel as though I should be over 100 posts by now, but way more time than I ever expected goes into writing one of these things.  No matter how many or few I create or however long it takes me, I love writing them, and even more, I have loved everyone's feedback, comments and support.  I hope you enjoy perusing them as much as I enjoy writing them!

With that said, there are certain design concepts, colors, fabrics, images, etc... that inspire me.  Though these inspirations are ever evolving, there are quite a few from these past 100 posts that still catch my eye. Maybe you will remember some of the photos below.  Other images are places and items from my everyday life and travels and a mix of other pictures, all of which inspire my designs.
