Need An Escape?

It has been quite the stressful week.  I will spare you the details, but I'll give you the gist of it - house on the market, renters in the house moving out, need new renters cause house won't sell, all the while trying to move into our new house this month.  Sheesh!  So when I stumbled upon the Capo La Gala hotel this morning, it couldn't have happened at a better time.  Hello vacation!  I think if anyone needed to escape this would be the place to do it.  The Capo La Gala is located on the Amalfi Coast in the small village of Vico Equense, Italy.  Take a look and get ready to be transported!

The pictures alone are relaxing.  What an amazing hotel!  I am so drawn to all the blues and the relaxed coastal decor.

Birthday Weekend Recap

After a full five days of birthday celebrations, I am worn out.  It was an incredible time, and I feel very blessed to have such wonderful friends and family.  After the family dinner last Tuesday, my boyfriend and I enjoyed a wonderful dinner at Rue de Jean on Thursday night.  Friday, my parents came into town, and we had a delicious late lunch at Husk.  It wasn't until after devouring my HUSK Cheeseburger and two glasses of French Chardonnay that I realized I forgot to take pictures.  For those of you who haven't been, here is a picture of the Husk dining room.

On Saturday, a day of sailing was planned (thanks to the boyfriend for organizng).  Despite a mid-day monsoon, it was a fabulous boat party!

Love the drink stirrers/labels my friend made for me!  She even put a little 30 in the top of the anchor.  Great idea for a boat party!

The navy and white fabric is Trina Turk's indoor/outdoor "Santorini Print" in Marine for Schumacher.

The friend who made the anchor tags is an interior designer as well, and I love how she used this fabric as a table cloth.  Perfect for a sailboat!

Thanks to everyone who made turning 30 so special!
Now, back to normal life and normal posts.

Birthday Celebration: DAY 1

Last night, I officially kicked off my Birthday celebration with a family dinner at my parent's house, Grandparents and all.  It was a lovely dinner, which included a toffee caramel cheesecake homemade by a friend's mother.  My Mom called around and found orange tulips (at Publix) to match Pantone's 2012 color of the year "Tangerine Tango".  Such a beautiful color!

I am big on celebrating Birthdays, so the celebration for me will continue through this week and weekend.  If I can keep up with the photo documenting, I hope to share some of the fun happenings as the week progresses.  After all, you only turn 30 once, right?

BEFORE & AFTER: Sleeping Nook

How was everyone's St. Patrick's weekend?  Do anything fun on Saturday?  I ended up on Sullivan's Island for their annual celebration. Planning on enjoying a beer or two in the beautiful weather then head home, those 2 hours turned into 10; ending with a dinner party at a fabulous beachfront home on the Island.  Oops!  I still managed to finish up a project and sew one slipcover though.

Some of you may remember a headboard I designed for a client about a month ago.  I finished that project this weekend.  The client's bedroom is an intimate nook surrounded by beadboard walls on 3 sides.  The ceilings are around 12' high, so you don't feel like the walls are closing in on you.  It's a charming little place that overlooks Colonial Lake downtown in Charleston.  This sleeping nook just needed a little pick-me-up.  Here is the before and after.  What a difference!

The only hard part about these little nooks - making up the bed!

Excited About: MARCH

How is everyone's week going?  I can't believe it's the first of March.  It is officially my birth month and this year I will be 30.  Yikes!  Been dreading this one for awhile, but oddly enough, I'm fine with it.  I think it's because I have so many exciting changes going on in my career and life at this point, some good, some bad, and all of them great learning experiences.  Perfect example: My house has been on the market for about a month now, and have only had one showing scheduled.  As for that one showing that was scheduled, the person didn't show!  I dont know how realtors do it.  Also, I don't know what I was thinking.  I really thought that I would have shown my house repeatedly at this point, had an offer, and would be closing next month.  Dream on, right!?  I know most of you saw my kitchen a few posts back, so why not go for a litte shameless self-promotion and show you the exterior of this home.  Aren't you curious anyway? (By the way, this is my house in Columbia, not Charleston)

Despite my reality check listing this house, we have just started looking for a new home in Charleston.  Very excited about that!  Will keep you posted.

Just selected fabrics this week for a wedding I am doing this spring.  Don't you love the color combination?  The Bride has excellent taste!!  Will be making pillows and slipcovers this weekend, which will be part of the reception design.  For those of you who know me, you are probably laughing at the thought of me using a sewing machine, but I think I have it under control.  And yes, this means I will be spending the majority of the first weekend of my birthmonth sitting in front of a sewing machine.  Way to live it up for the last month of my 20's!

And as a little birthday present to myself, I just commissioned a friend and talented woodworker to make a dining room table with beautiful reclaimed heart pine.  This is the design for the table.  Ignore the multi-color wood.  It will be a beautiful warm reddish brown.  I'm so excited to find some chic chairs to pair with it!

Happy birth month to all the other March babies! Cheers!
