HALLOWEEN WEEKEND!

It's Halloween weekend!  I love this weekend, and I love a good costume party.  Unfortunately, my costume planning fell to the wayside this year, so I'm working on a last minute costume today.  Any ideas?  Boyfriend suggested we dress up as Dominique Strauss-Kahn and the maid.  Ummm, no thank you.  I will not be wearing a maid's uniform as my costume of choice.  I would rather go with the sushi roll idea I found yesterday, which was actually pretty interesting!  Anyway, along with fun parties and creative costumes, I love Halloween decor!  If you aren't into the costume thing, maybe you would be more interested in dressing up your home.  Some of these ideas look tempting to recreate.

Crazy for Navy

Some of you are probably aware of my love for the color Navy by now.  It's a classic and timeless color that you most likely aren't going to look at a couple years from now and wonder 'What the hell was I thinking?'.  I recently had the pleasure of working with several beautiful Navy Blue finishes for some upcoming work.  While pulling for this project, I found some fresh ideas for using Navy and some fabulous products that I wanted to share with you.  A couple of these included are actually from my "Navy Archives".  Yes, it's true, I have an archived collection of everything Navy, which I have been building for about 12 years.

This Weekend In Chapel Hill

I was in Chapel Hill, NC this weekend for my boyfriend's brother's wedding.  We couldn't have had a better weekend!  The weather was amazing, the food was delicious, and everyone had so much fun.  The weekend flew by and I tried to get some good pictures to document, but I always forget about the camera.  I didn't take one picture of the two of us or anyone else the entire time.  Sad.  I have got to get better about taking pictures because I always wish I had afterwards.

For those of you familiar with the Chapel Hill nightlife "scene", you may have been to the place pictured below.  We ended up here Friday and Saturday night.  Such a fun spot!

Really liked The Crunkleton's green stained concrete bathroom counters!  Also loved that they had Meyer's Geranium scented soap.  One of my faves!

Our hotel room was pretty colorful.  The headboard was a faux cork.  I like the simple reading lights mounted to the bed.  Can you get a feel for the bold color choices?

Creative striping on the shades caught my eye.  Such an easy way to add interest to plain blackout shades.

The hotel bar (below) that we frequented a little too often.  Once again, super colorful!  I borrowed this picture from Flickr.  I don't think my camera even made it out with me to this bar.

I wish I could show more pictures of the actual wedding and reception, but like I said, when I am socializing and having fun, I forget about the camera.  I did get one shot of the Chapel Hill Country Club's restroom.  I fell in love with the wallcovering that was a soft Tarheel blue and pale gold combination.  Also loved the sconces!

It was a great weekend with the boyfriend's fam.  The bride's family was wonderful too!  I wish I had a recording of the boyfriend's best man speech to his brother.  Hilarious!  Hopefully, someone got it on video.  Hope all of you had a great weekend too!

DREAM JOB

Picture yourself lounging on a yacht surrounded by the ultimate luxuries, floating somewhere off the coast of Italy.  I'm not talking about just any yacht, but a Superyacht that is opulent in every way.  To design those Superyachts is my dream job.  I realize I would probably have to live somewhere in Europe if I had this opportunity, which wouldn't be so bad.  If you are not familiar with a Superyacht, this is not your basic yacht, which I associate with marine-like interiors that are reminiscent of the 1980's in design(this type of design is not my dream job).  However, a Superyacht is typically a vessel over 100 ft. that also has a more luxurious interior.  Oh how I would love to design one!  Maybe one day in my career.  Until then, I've put together some favorite interiors from some insanely over-the-top Superyachts.

Currently, Eclipse is the world's largest yacht (image below), but it does not, in my opinion, have the best interior design.  The living space below was nice though.

Monday Morning Mix: ORANGE

It was a beautiful weekend!  I love this weather and this time of year.  It was so nice yesterday that I decided to ditch running errands and spend my Sunday afternoon here (see picture below)!  Thanks to my trusty iPad, I grabbed a chair by the pool and did some work while getting some sun.  It was wonderful!

Not only do I love the weather this time of year, but I also love Orange.  Not because of Halloween, but because it is such a beautifully warm Fall color.  I usually love an orange accent, but it lately seems to be the color I'm constantly gravitating towards.

I've seen this orange door and foyer picture below quite a bit, and I love it every time I see it.  Such a fabulous front door!  (Although I typically love a black stair handrail, I might have done another color for this one.)

Love the hint of orange in the carpet below!

This is Jeffers Design Group office below.  What an amazing space to work in!

Have you picked out a your pumpkin yet?  I love these pumpkin design ideas!  Some of these seem so easy and could be a fun weekend project!
