WEEKEND PROJECT: Before and After

This weekend I spent most of my Saturday and Sunday, breaking of course for football games Saturday night, refinishing a piece of furniture. The particular piece is an old nightstand of the Boyfriend's that was in need of a little TLC. On a side note, this is one of the very few pieces of his furniture that made "the cut" when we merged our things. As promised in an earlier post to review Rust-Oleum's lacquer spray paint, this seemed like a great opportunity to try it out.

Not sure if any of you have tried this Rust-Oleum product and had any luck, but unfortunately it didn't deliver the super shiny lacquer I was wanting.  Maybe the problem was in the user, but certain spots were glossy and other spots looked super dull.  So, I went to Lowe's and found a clear gloss brushing lacquer.  Much better results!

I lined the inside shelf with a gold shagreen print wallcovering.  The gold texture is a nice contrast to the glossy black.
